Children's Activities

SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN. Volunteers are invited to come to Cargo Largo on Saturday, August 7, at noon to help stuff 700 book bags. Open Arms has been invited to bring a team (at least 5 persons) to help with this endeavor. The Independence School District estimates there will be 700 homeless children in their schools this fall. Donations are coming in for the supplies--we just need "STUFFERS" with a heart. Food, fun, and a good feeling will be provided. We will all work under a tent until the 700 are filled. Please don't think someone else will do it--YOU are needed. Please sign up today. If we get enough people for 2-3 teams, that will be even better!

Joseph's journey from prison to palace will take us to Egypt for VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL! We will meet on August 7 and 14 and September 18 and 25 from 10:00-11:30. Lunch is planned for the 25th. If you are interested in caravanning with us through the desert, please contact Mary Rae Bayless. Sign-up sheets are available in the bulletin and on the table behind the sanctuary.

We need help building a pyramid for Vacation Bible School. Stuff one brown grocery bag with crumpled-up newspaper or other paper. Place a second bag around the end of the first one and pull to cover the first bag--that's it! Make a bunch and bring them to Open Arms before August! Thank you.

CHILDREN'S CHOIRS - A singing choir is led by Cindy McDonald, assisted by Theresa Franke. A bell choir is led by Aimee Babcock. If you know a child who wants to be a part of one or both of these choirs, please contact Cindy and/or Aimee.

The KIDS LIBRARY will be open between class and worship time.

Just for kids! For your child's comfort and for yours, the quiet activities available for using during worship services are on the north wall next to the office door. Feel free to assist your child/children in choosing something of interest to bring to where you are sitting. Other choices may be made later in the service as their interest changes. Please see Faith Bayne if you have suggestions for additions to this area.

Kids' bulletins...There are children's bulletins available on a table in the back for kids ages 3-6 and for kids ages 7-12. They are different each week. Be sure your child, grandchild, or friends take advantage of the ministry. Please feel free to share them with a child that you know.

Sunday School Classes--

  • The nursery is downstairs for newborn through 3 years old.
  • The preschool class of 3-5-year-olds meets upstairs.
  • The primary class for 1st-3rd grade youth meets upstairs.
  • The junior class will continue to meet upstairs. This is for 4th-5th graders.
  • A new middle school class now meets at 9:30 a.m. in the room behind the left side of the sanctuary. This is for 6th-8th grade youth.
  • The senior high school class meets in the room to the right front of the sanctuary. This is for 9th-12th grade youth.

Nursery volunteers needed! Please help take care of our little ones in the nursery so that everyone (parents included) can have an opportunity to share in our worship. You do need to have had the Community of Christ youth training and be certified--Mary Rae Bayless will be glad to help you obtain that. Please contact Mary Rae Bayless at 836-1312 or mbayless100@comcast.net if you can help.

Help needed! We are looking for more persons who are interested in assisting with the classes from the nursery through senior high age. On occasion the regular teachers are not able to come, and we need a team of people who can step in and assist on those occasions. Please contact Mary Rae Bayless at 836-1312 or mbayless100@comcast.net if you can help.
