Children's Activities

BAPTISMAL CLASS - A class for those 8 years old or older to learn about becoming a baptized member of the Community of Christ will begin APRIL 4. The class will last through June and will be held in the upstairs 1st-3rd grade classroom. They'll be at 9:30 each Sunday in April, May, and June. See Dave McDonald if you have questions.

A SPRING/EASTER TREASURE HUNT for kids and families will be held at Open Arms on Saturday, March 27 from 10 am until 11:30 am. Along with a treasure hunt, Easter crafts will be available. The treasure hunt will happen whether the weather is bad or good! Be sure to come and bring your friends! Adults and youth are needed to help with different stations along the treasure hunt. Please see Mary Rae Bayless if you can help.

The KIDS LIBRARY will be open between class and worship time. Mary Cadwallader will be available to sign out books, videos, and DVDs during that time. You will be responsible for bringing them back in a reasonable length of time.

Just for kids! For your child's comfort and for yours, the quiet activities available for using during worship services are on the north wall next to the office door. Feel free to assist your child/children in choosing something of interest to bring to where you are sitting. Other choices may be made later in the service as their interest changes. Please see Faith Bayne if you have suggestions for additions to this area.

Kids' bulletins...There are children's bulletins available on a table in the back for kids ages 3-6 and for kids ages 7-12. They are different each week. Be sure your child, grandchild, or friends take advantage of the ministry. Please feel free to share them with a child that you know.

Sunday School Classes--

  • The nursery is downstairs for newborn through 3 years old.
  • The preschool class of 3-5-year-olds meets upstairs with Niki and Glenna Winship and Nici Brownlee.
  • The primary class for 1st-3rd grade youth meets upstairs with Louise Binger and Tracey Stamey.
  • The junior class will continue to meet upstairs with Rich LaGrece as teacher. This is for 4th-5th graders.
  • A new middle school class now meets at 9:30 a.m. in the room behind the left side of the sanctuary. This is for 6th-8th grade youth - Carol Steede-Spaulding is the teacher.
  • The senior high school class meets in the room to the right front of the sanctuary with Mark and Pam Robison as teachers. This is for 9th-12th grade youth.

Nursery volunteers needed! Please help take care of our little ones in the nursery so that everyone (parents included) can have an opportunity to share in our worship. You do need to have had the Community of Christ youth training and be certified--Mary Rae Bayless will be glad to help you obtain that. Please contact Mary Rae Bayless at 836-1312 or mbayless100@comcast.net if you can help.

Help needed! We are looking for more persons who are interested in assisting with the classes from the nursery through senior high age. On occasion the regular teachers are not able to come, and we need a team of people who can step in and assist on those occasions. Please contact Mary Rae Bayless at 836-1312 or mbayless100@comcast.net if you can help.
